Author: Lena Peters
Brochures and catalogues have always played an important role in Marketing. They introduce the product or the brand to the public and facilitate a description on which depends the future of the business. A design is what captures the attention first, generates an interest and lets the reader to judge the brand or the product. Brochure design, to a great extent depends on the kind of audience being targeted.
In the advertising industry, where print media is suffering a huge competition from the online media spreading its roots everywhere, a brochure has a minimal purpose to solve and its audience is limited to a specific number. In such a scenario, while designing a brochure one has to ensure it reaches the maximum people and conveys the right message.
To start with, a brochure must place the pictures of the business or the products in an aesthetic way to attract the reader and make an impact in his mind. It must ensure that the flow of the copy is maintained to engage a reader. If the front side of a copy is not interesting enough or thought provoking, there are high chances that it may not motivate a person to read the rest of the pages.
While designing a brochure for a company, the copywriter has to be a little cautious as the brochure serves as a document based on which a reader forms the first impression. Tacky write-up, messy pictures and crowded copy leads to wastage of the effort and annoys the reader too. Make sure that the design of the brochure is in sync with the purpose for which it is created with the right use of colours and font of the copy. For example, choose white and pink if designing for a kids brand and more serious colours such as black and navy blue while designing for an IT company.
To enhance the appeal of the brochure, one can make use of the white space in its design. Use enough of white space in your brochure to make it look aesthetically well created, less crowded and appealling as well.
