Using Safelists For Free Advertising
Author: Michael Burns
I understand what it’s like to be on a budget. Especially when you’re just starting on with internet marketing. You’re trying to get leads, traffic and sales. It sometimes seems like you beating your head against the wall.
I have decided to take what I know about low budget or even free advertising for a blog or website and write it down on this blog so you can reveiw it wheneveer you like.
With free advertising you had better be prepaired to put in some long days to get any results.
The reasons these types of advertising are free are:
1. They are quite labor intensive. They will require you to sit at the computer for hours and set up ads, post ads, visit wbsites, etc.
2. They usually have very small response and conversion rates. Therefore it requires you to do it for hours a day just to get the results you’re after.
The good news is this. Over time you will find that you have to do them less and less. As your list grows and people start linking to or visiting your website more regulary. Or people start talking about your site on social media sites. You’ll be getting more and more traffic without you hving to do as much work, and you’ll be making some money.
Today the free advertising source I’m going to talk about is Safelists.
What Is a Safelist?
A safelist is a form of e-mail marketing and advertising where the members have agreed to receive each other’s messages. Usually, the safelist administration reserves the right to mail its’ members. Types of safelists include paid, credit based, and free.
Safelist are in no way close to being as good as having your very own email list. But if you have no list and no money, then they will do. But you have to use them properly to have any results from them.
1. Don’t use safelist advertising to make sales! The targeted traffic you generate from safelist advertising will rarely make a purchase the first time they see your offer. Actually, in the bigger picture, regardless of how you advertising online… most people won’t buy from you the first time. 81% of all sales happen on or after the 5th contact. That means that people need to see your offer at least five times before they buy.
What you need to be doing is capture leads. This goes for any advertising you do online, but especially so for safelist advertising as prospects are viewing your offer for a very limited amount of time. You capture leads through a squeeze page. This is also known as a landing page. Your landing page is your number one safelist advertising tool. It should present prospects with an enticing free offer in exchange for their name and email address. And if that offer is good, they’ll go for it.
2. Safelist advertising requires powerful headlines (Unless it’s a credit based safelist, they will open those ads regardless)
I know you’ve heard this a hundred times before, but an effective headline will do advertising wonders. And it’s universal. A good headline not only works for safelist, but all other forms of online promotion you do.
Safelist members receive hundreds of emails each day. And if you want to get your ad read by them, you better have a good headline that grabs their attention. The same is true whether you’re doing PPC, classifieds or social networking. Are you beginning to see how the fundamentals of successful safelist advertising are universal to all advertising you’d do online?
So Does Safelist Advertising Work? You bet it does. But like any other form of advertising you do, you’ve got to do it right.
