Ridding Evil & Anxiety Out Of Your Mind & Life
Many religous people believe that unemployment, low finances, poverty, relationship break up, sin and all other evils can be overcome. This article examines how this may (or maynot) be possible.
Jesus Christ warned humans that without God they couldnot be spiritually successful. Jesus also warned that there might come a time when God would bring natural attacks upon their “godly disobedient” foundations (Matthew 7:13-29).
Jesus said that the Holy Bible is God’s Word and that God’s people must obey God’s Word and Will (John 17:3, 17; John 14:23-24; John 15:10). Just as God is a Spirit God’s Holy Biblical Word is Spirit and Supernatural (John 4:24; John 3:1-16; Hebrews 4:11-12). The Bible tells us that God’s Angels will Supernaturally Appear and Help Us when we speak God’s Word into our circumstances (Psalm 103:20; Revelation 12:11). This is how Jesus defeated Satan the Devil during Temptation (Matthew 4:1-11).
Ridding Evil Rule Number One: Humans must obey God’s Biblical Word. God’s Word is specifically written to help humans in all their concerns (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:15). Humans must Repent & Ask Jesus To Lead Their Lives (John 3:16; Matthew 4:17).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Two: Humans must regularly speak God’s Biblical Word into their circumstances. God’s spirit world of angels will take it from there (Psalm 103: 20; Matthew 4:1-11).
When you read John Chapter 14 and Acts Chapter 2 you see God’s Promise to send His Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) upon humans. Humans are able to do the same things Jesus did when they are filled with the Holy Ghost (John 5:20; John 14:12). Jesus told humans to always pray to God and also ask for the Holy Spirit and they will receive it (Luke 11:9-15; Matthew 7:7). This is what the Apostle Paul meant when he advised Christians to always “Walk In The Spirit” (Galatians 5:16, 25; Ephesians 6:18).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Three: Always Pray And Ask God To Send You The Holy Spirit In Jesus’ Name (John 14:13). A Holy Spirit Filled person will be directed connected to God the Spirit and will be able to “walk on water” (Matthew 14:24-29).
So far we’ve learned how to pray to God, ask for the Holy Spirit, obey God and use God’s Holy Biblical Word to speak “Spirit (Breath)” into our human circumstances.
God is a Very Jealous God (Exodus 20:5) Who Shares His Authority And Glory With Noone. God is also a Very Loving God Who Is A Father To Obedient Worshippers. God commands His followers not to fear anything and not to “fear” any bad news or evil reports (tidings). A person who wants God to help them or be present in any way must not worry, fear, or look to other sources to “save” them. It’s ok to seek wise advise, but that person(s) must trust solely in God to provide (1 John 4:8; John 3:16; Matthew 6:25-34; Proverbs 29:26; Psalm 112:7; Proverbs 3:5-8).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Four-A person must take their attention off human or any other information and places it primarily on God’s Word. They must live a prayerful and Godly life. When the storms of anxiety (or fear) attack them they must focus on God the Spirit (John 4:24; Matthew 14:24-29).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Five-A person must ask God’s Holy Spirit to help them remove all fleshly, evil and ungodliness from themselves (1 Corinthians Chapter 5, Galatians Chapter 5, 1 Corinthians 6:9-13; 1 John 2:15-17; Book of Ephesians). Once a person’s evil connection to this life is broken God’s Supernatural Presence will increase (Acts 9:1-30).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Six-Ask The Holy Spirit To Cultivate In You The Fruit of God’s Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Seven-Ask The Holy Spirit To Help You Put On The Whole Armor Of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Eight- Ask The Holy Spirit To Help You Put On The Mind Of Jesus Christ (Romans 12:1-5; Philippians 2:4-7).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Nine-Ask God To Give You The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians Chapter 12).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Ten-Ask The Holy Spirit To Help You To Only Think On These Things Of The Holy Spirit (Philippians 4:6-8).
Ridding Evil Rule Number Eleven-Ask The Holy Spirit To Help You “Cast Down” Any Human (Or Evil) High Place Of Disobedience Against God (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
As a person’s mind, emotions and total self is placed on God (Matthew 22:37-38) they will no longer have their prior concerns (and fears). They will learn that God will provide as He has promised. However God promises to provide “needs”. God may provide bare necessities and humans must renew their minds to appreciate these things (Matthew 6:25-34; Exodus Chapter 16; Romans 12:1-5; Hebrews 13:5-6).
This is the sole reason why so many believers in Jesus Christ can sing, dance, praise and rejoice in Him when they have so many earthly problems. Our hope is no longer in what this life provides. It’s in our Lord and Savior Jesus Chirst (John 3:16; Proverbs 3:5-6).
Problems may or maynot increase. God’s human servants are confident (in Faith) that He will never Leave Them Nor Forsake Them (Hebrews 13:5-6; Matthew 28:18-20).

Thoughts From The Box – “Don’t Judge Me”

Thoughts From The Box – “Don’t Judge Me”
Author: Damien K. H. Nash
How many times have you heard the phrase, “Don’t Judge Me”?
Honestly, I’ve heard it and even said it plenty of times myself. However, when studying scripture and meditating on the Word of God, I have begun to pay close attention to what I say and especially the motives behind what’s being said.
God showed me that we have turned into a “Don’t Judge Me” society, where we sometimes are tolerating anything and everything because standing for something might offend our brethren. Let’s get something straight: People will hate you because they hated Christ first, and they want to remain ignorant so they don’t have to be accountable for their actions.
So I asked God, “Why do we allow this phrase to be an acceptable mindset in our everyday lives?” And He answered: “Because you want to create a good excuse to satisfy fleshly desires.”
Question: Do you think the disciples would have asked Jesus not to judge them?
I do understand that we as individuals have our own thorns. Some of us, for example, may struggle with slothfulness. Others may be caught up in sexual sin and pornography. And some might even have to battle substance abuse.
Truth is, we all struggle with something. However, I warn you not to make it a habit to use one piece of scripture to try and cover up your guilt and pain. Because if you do choose to cover the pain yourself, it will only make it worse. It creates a callus around your heart. You will start moving away from reading your bible daily, to begin saying, “Oh I don’t need to go to church.”
Trust me, it happened to me.
But I do have good news.  Roman 8:1 says “…there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Jesus is able to take the pain away.
1 Timothy 3:16,17 says, “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” When I read this, and understood it for the first time, it changed my whole perspective. I saw clearly how my lifestyle was not lined up with the Word of God. In essence, when someone spoke biblical correction in my life, I was rejecting it with the “don’t judge me” attitude—not even being open to hearing the teaching that God was trying to send me.
Proverbs gives a stronger view on those who reject correction. I ask that you take heed to the wisdom given here. “To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.” (Proverbs 12:1)  Personally, I don’t want to live in ignorance, foolishly rejecting reproof and corrections.
The word judge is defined as a person qualified to pass a critical judgment, or settle something authoritatively. A judge has the last say on a particular case. Most of the time you may be thinking someone is judging you but they are only correcting you, which literally means that they are advising you on an adjustment you should make to increase your accuracy. We can adjust our lives to reflect the Word of God we say we believe in.
I don’t know your own personal belief system. However, if we say we believe in the full authority of the bible, then we should never again take shortcuts. And I believe saying “Don’t Judge Me” all the time has become a shortcut for many of us and a cop-out to not live holy and righteous lives.
Now there are those who do judge you by telling you that you are going straight to hell in a hay basket. In this case you should first forgive them and then pray that God will have mercy on them and cover them with His grace daily. Matthew 5:44 says “…love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you…”
Finally my friends, when someone corrects you, don’t be so quick to blurt out, “Don’t Judge Me.” Listen carefully and be slow to speak. Examine your heart, and actions, to see if God has gracefully brought someone into your life to keep you accountable.
The bible suggests that we create a group of people to hold us accountable for our actions. We find this in James 5:16 where the scripture says to confess our faults (sins) one to another and pray for one another. These people can be spiritual leaders who are strong in the areas where we are weak and check on our progress.
We can even help them stay accountable, too!
Prayer,
God you are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Even though you are our ultimate judge, thank You for working through others, allowing them to correct us, to help us adjust our lifestyle and follow Your Will for our lives. Thank you for Son who gives us a perfect picture of how to live righteously and with justice. It is in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
Blessings,

How not to tell time: the argument of the beard

How not to tell time: the argument of the beard

How not to tell time: the argument of the beard
                                                                        Mike L Anderson
Customer: “I see you are selling this watch rather cheaply, but how accurate is it.”
Shopkeeper: “Not perfectly”
Customer: “Okay, for that price, I’ll take it.”
Customer (a week later): “Hey, this watch doesn’t work.”
Shopkeeper: “Well, I told you it wasn’t perfectly accurate, but it is accurate twice a day.”
The humour and the shopkeepers ploy hinges on some ambiguity in the phrase ‘not perfectly.’ There are degrees of imperfection. When does ‘not perfectly’ become ‘very badly?’ It’s hard to say when you dealing with a continuum. But there are still real differences between points on a continuum. The shopkeeper tried to collapse the difference between ‘not working perfectly’ and ‘not working at all’. In so doing he committed the so-called argument of the beard. (It’s hard to say how many hairs are needed to make a beard, but there is a clear difference between having a beard and being clean-shaven).
I saw a nice example of this, also to do with time, at my church some time ago. The speaker was a trained geologist; the subject radioactive dating. He proceeded to dig up instances of inaccurate dating to cast doubt on the whole radioactive dating procedure. He had a point. Geologists cannot date rocks with absolute precision. Accurate dating depends on three conditions.
1) One knows the initial conditions.
2) The system is isolated.
3) There is a constant rate of decay.
These conditions are not always met. Sometimes mistakes are made. Our geologist made much of the discrepancies, the uncertainties and the problems to the point of throwing the radioactive timepiece out altogether and exchanging it for one of his own. He used the population growth of humans to claim that we could not have been around for very long. All that is needed to produce the current global population, at even conservatively estimated growth rates, is 6000 years.
Our geologist has committed the fallacy of the beard; he has collapsed the difference between good and bad timepieces and gone so far as to exchange a Rolex watch for the plastic variety that one finds in a lucky packet.
In fact, radioactive dating meets the conditions for accurate time keeping rather well. Radioactive decay, because it occurs at the quantum level, is known to be not significantly affected by temperature, pressure or chemical state (1). This is one reason why mainstream geologists are confident that their estimate of 4.5 billion years for the earth’s age is accurate to within 10 percent (2).  On the other hand there are many factors which influence population size – drought, pestilence, natural disasters, war etc. It is an absurdly poor choice of timepiece as Sir Arthur Keith pointed out as long ago as 1935 (3). If one applied the method to bacteria, one would have to conclude that they have been on the earth for no longer than a week. This is all it would take for the earth to be knee-deep in bacteria at conservative growth rates.
It is curious that we Christians sometimes use the argument of the beard when it is so often used against moral absolutes. Cicero defended incest by arguing that “touching my mother with my little toe is not wrong and everything else is a matter of degree.” Our Christian geologist may not want Cicero as a bedfellow, but while the particulars differ, the fallacy is the same.

Contextomy or who is my neighbour?

Contextomy or who is my neighbour?
Author: Mike L Anderson
Contextomy or who is my neighbour? by Mike L Anderson
In a cartoon a kid asks, “Is it more blessed to give then to receive, Tiger?” He replies, “That’s what they say.” In the next frame Tiger is “given” a snowball on the back of his head! It is very easy to see that the kid has committed the fallacy of contextomy or quoting out of context. The quote is from the apostle Paul who attributed the saying to Jesus (1). By ‘giving’ Paul meant being kind – the strong helping the weak. Contextomy occurs when only a portion of a a text is quoted in order to foister a meaning different to that intended by the author. Paul did not mean any kind of a giving; he meant the kindly kind of giving.
Anti-evolutionists are often accused of contextomy. For instance, one writer, trying to discount the scientific basis for evolutionary theory, quotes biologist Richard Dawkins on the geologically sudden appearance of Cambrian fauna, “It is as though the fossils were planted there without any evolutionary history” (2). Dawkins points out that that the excerpt was a rhetorical device “intended to whet the reader’s appetite for the explanation that was to follow. Sad hindsight tells me now how predictable it was that my remark would be gleefully quoted out of context”(3). Dawkins is justifiably peeved. He continues, “Deceitful misquoting of scientists to suit an anti-scientific agenda ranks among the many unchristian habits of fundamentalist authors.”
Dawkins is right that contextomy is un-Christian. Unfortunately, he falls into himself when it suits him. For instance he asserts, “Christians seldom realize that much of the moral consideration for others which is apparently promoted by both the Old and New Testaments was originally intended to apply only to a narrowly defined in-group. “Love thy neighbour” didn’t mean what we now think it means. It meant only “Love another Jew” (4) [p 253]. Where does he get this idea? From an American physician and evolutionary anthropologist (5). Where does the anthropologist get it? A passage in Leviticus. “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD”  (6). Taking this verse on its own might suggest that Jews were only meant to love other Jews, but later in the chapter we find this: “When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God”(7). Perhaps Dawkins was unaware of this passage despite his confident posture.
But he alleges that the New Testament also teaches that loving others applies only to the in-group. What did Jesus actually mean by “Love your neighbor as yourself”?(8). Dawkins approvingly quotes the same anthropologist, “Jesus would have turned over in his grave if he had known that Paul would be taking his plan to the pigs [i.e. gentiles]“(9). On the contrary, the Lamb is in heaven and enjoys the worship of the “pigs” He saved. “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb”" (10).
Every Sunday school kid knows the parable of the Good Samaritan, in which Jesus expressly answered the question ‘who is my neighbour?’(11) In it a hated Samaritan loves the Jew in need. Jesus is stressing that neighbourly love should cross racial boundaries. He makes it even more abundantly clear that love should be extended to the out-group when He says, “You have heard that it was said, `Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”(12). Either Dawkins is abysmally ignorant of scripture or has fallen into the same deceitful contextomy of which he accuses others. And has he never heard of the Great Commission? Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of “all the nations” (13). How out-group can you get? And it was to a Samaritan that Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.” (14).
Here is a thought. Perhaps it is a fallacy to take anyone out of context not just my particular in-group. Perhaps we could consider the people we quote as neighbours to be loved? Perhaps we could quote them in the same way that we would like to be quoted. Perhaps we could extend the courtesy to the writers of the Old and New Testaments? And perhaps we could extend the same courtesy to Jesus.
Jesus taught and modelled what it means to love our neighbour, but the human race did not treat Him as a neighbour. And we still do not when we misquote Him.
